The Bypass (2003) Short Film Review & Revival

The Bypass

This is the ocean of sand and everyone's a criminal in it.
So as I came back home defeated from work, I was seeking an escape as I do every day from reality. I checked my watchlist and I couldn't find any. So I faced YouTube, the OG one. As I searched for Short films on YouTube, this film came to my vision. A film with Irrfan in it was enough to make me interested and it was a crime thriller. So I jumped into it and boy what a show it was.
The story starts with a newlywed couple, in their car going through the desert facing two bandits and then the story switches its center point quite often showing us that not everyone who seems to have kind intentions or morals is not made that way. A cop, a cook, a helpless woman, an old lady, a driver, and two bandits. Everyone gets their fair share of consequences.
Although the film is pretty short and doesn't have any dialogue the treatment of this film is just classic. Irrfan and Nawaz are both in this film making it a must-watch. Although no dialogues seem forceful at times the twists are well executed. The writer-director of this film Amit Kumar did a very pleasant job on the project.

Overall, this film is a well-made short film for you to watch.
My rating for this film would be 4/5

Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975) Movie Review and Why It's an Important Film.

Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975)  Pier Paolo Pasolini is the man who made one of the most beautifully disturbing films of all time. Now there are so many people who would easily skip this film considering its premises and theme and visuals but that's what makes this film a remarkable piece of art. Now as influential as Pasolini is, his last film Salò made some noises, made some things move, and became one of the most controversial films ever made.   Based on the book The 120 Days of Sodom by Marquis de Sade And loosely inspired by the real events of the Republic of Salò in Northern Italy towards the time of the end of the Second World War.   In the film, we see about the end of World War 2 a bunch of extremely wealthy and powerful fascist men with some retired prostitutes and soldiers capture 18 boys and girls on a ratio of 1:1. They take those underaged boys to a private palace, where they torture them, physical, mentally and sexually. The rul...

Haddi 2023 Movie Review and Disappointments

An educated transgender woman goes on a killing spree in the fullest carnage mode after a politician kills her whole family brutally. That's what I thought I'd be witnessing in the film Haddi.   Sadly that wasn't the case. As much as I liked the trailer, the film was a total disappointment for me. Nawazuddin Siddiqui as a brutal bloodthirsty transgender woman seeking her revenge was good enough to hook me in.  But the making made a total letdown. The non-linear storyline was confusing and incomplete. Lead's performances were good enough but some sides were huge misfits. Although I liked the chemistry between Nawaz and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, but felt like they could have been better. Anurag Kashyap as a cold and goofy politician was convincing enough.  And after everything what really disappointed me that the fact that the greatness this film could have achieved with a little bit more mature making. They try to hide the necessary violent shots...

Mrs. Undercover (2023) Movie Review and Disappointments

Mrs. Undercover I cannot imagine Radhika Apte doing a movie like this in 2023, especially after doing movie like Monica, O My Darling. As much as I love Radhika Apte with all my heart and soul, I just feel sad seeing her this way.   This movie is just dumb, simply dumb. One only could imagine what a good comedy or even a dark comedy this film could have been but then, giving a speech about women's empowerment every two minutes didn't work for me.   There are ways to tell a story, you can show through visuals or you can spoon-feed your audience. And this film spoon-feeds its audience irritatingly.   The story, the characters, the protagonist, the antagonist, and even the characters of special agents feel so dumb and immature at times that I thought I'd have done better work. I mean come on Sumeet Vyas as a psychopath misogynistic serial killer is such a fascinating concept and Radhika Apte playing an Ex Undercover agent and now a full-time housew...
