Aftersun
Sometimes life and films can be as simple as a sunrise and yet so unforgettably beautiful.
This is how I shall describe the movie 'Aftersun'. Sophie spends a very intimate and close to the heart holiday with her simplistic father Calum. And after year when she grows in life, she recalls those happy and numb memories.
This coming of age story is simple and beautiful, heartwarming and it gives a subtle smile in your face.
Paul Mescal as a broken father who cares for his child and tries to be the best father he can is just a treat to watch. Frankie Corio on the other hand is a daughter growing and experiencing life at it's fullest is just beautiful. Somehow they both manage to create that very particular connection, that very essence of a parenting relation that we crave inside and it is exceptionally natural.
Charlotte Wells did and exceptional job in her debut film with the beautiful writing, Background music and editing.
For those who crave for a well made slice of life film in this new age of loud cinema, 'Aftersun' is for you.
