All films and no acting makes Arjun a dull boy.
There is a term in fiction called Philosopher's Stone, in the film 'Kuttey' there are so many Philosopher's Stones such as Nasiruddin Shah, Tabu, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kumud Mishra, and many more who could turn even Shit into Gold but even they put together couldn't make Arjun Kapoor act for a single scene in this film.
While watching the debut film of Aasmaan Bhardwaj 'Kuttey' I was just wondering why on god's earth would anyone cast Arjun Kapoor in this film or a matter of fact in any film ever.
Anyways, after around two months finally watched 'Kuttey'. And it's a bit of mixed feelings for me. At some points, it feels like an upgrade to Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Kaminey' which I enjoyed thoroughly. But then at times 'Kuttey' feels like if it had better writing at some points and better editing in the critical scenarios in the film, it would have worked for me.
From the very first shot of the film, I was amazed to see the use of colors and editing considering it's a debut film for Aasmaan. But then as the story movies forward, it feels like the director had lost the passion to complete the film. I wish that Aasmaan doesn't lose his passion or liking for making movies, he can really go for a long run.
I really liked thee performance of a bold and badass cop played by Tabu, and a very much helpless cop played by Kumud Mishra was well written. Although there are some crucial setbacks for the film such as Arjun Kapoor, the Short Screen time of Nasir Shah sir and Konkona Sen Sharma, a lame climax, and too many twists. Nevertheless, this film's music really worked for me. Written by Gulzar and Music by Vishal Bhardwaj, absolutely loved the BGM and Soundtracks.
In the end, I'd say this film is a good one-time watch and Arjun Kapoor sucks big time.
For me, it's a 3/5
