Cocos Nucifera 2023 Short Film Review & Suggestion

Cocos Nucifera

Divided by Caste United by Coconuts.
That's how shall I put together this short film's concept altogether.
A very dear friend of mine directed this film as his debut. So here is my unbiased review of this 20 minutes short satirical comedy film.
Based on a small village in the southern part of India, the story focuses on casteism in a very comedic way, connecting past and present with coconuts are the symbol of unity.
Considering that it is the very first directorial of Sreerag Gopi, the camera work, editing, and sound design seemed very mature.
The story is very simple and well-written and revolves around a bunch of people from different castes who's life and role in society has been changed throughout time. The good thing about this short is that it doesn't go all serious on this subject and keeps it as funny as it can be. Although sometimes it feels too much of childish at times, overall this is worth 20 minutes.
Best of luck to the team of 'Cocos Nucifera'.

IMO it'd be a good 3.5/5.

P. S- you can watch it on YouTube for free.

Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975) Movie Review and Why It's an Important Film.

Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975)  Pier Paolo Pasolini is the man who made one of the most beautifully disturbing films of all time. Now there are so many people who would easily skip this film considering its premises and theme and visuals but that's what makes this film a remarkable piece of art. Now as influential as Pasolini is, his last film Salò made some noises, made some things move, and became one of the most controversial films ever made.   Based on the book The 120 Days of Sodom by Marquis de Sade And loosely inspired by the real events of the Republic of Salò in Northern Italy towards the time of the end of the Second World War.   In the film, we see about the end of World War 2 a bunch of extremely wealthy and powerful fascist men with some retired prostitutes and soldiers capture 18 boys and girls on a ratio of 1:1. They take those underaged boys to a private palace, where they torture them, physical, mentally and sexually. The rul...

Mrs. Undercover (2023) Movie Review and Disappointments

Mrs. Undercover I cannot imagine Radhika Apte doing a movie like this in 2023, especially after doing movie like Monica, O My Darling. As much as I love Radhika Apte with all my heart and soul, I just feel sad seeing her this way.   This movie is just dumb, simply dumb. One only could imagine what a good comedy or even a dark comedy this film could have been but then, giving a speech about women's empowerment every two minutes didn't work for me.   There are ways to tell a story, you can show through visuals or you can spoon-feed your audience. And this film spoon-feeds its audience irritatingly.   The story, the characters, the protagonist, the antagonist, and even the characters of special agents feel so dumb and immature at times that I thought I'd have done better work. I mean come on Sumeet Vyas as a psychopath misogynistic serial killer is such a fascinating concept and Radhika Apte playing an Ex Undercover agent and now a full-time housew...

Shazam! Fury of the Gods 2023 Movie Review, Regrets & Suggestions

Shazam! Fury of the Gods Life is very beautiful yet complicated. We all do some deeds, sometimes we are very much satisfied with what we do and sometimes there are regrets what's left. And it is very sad to live with regrets.    After watching Shazam! Fury of the Gods, I really, really regret not seeing this film in theatres. A genuinely enjoyable Superhero film. Now I am not saying that it was perfect and the greatest creation of mankind, it's not. There are some flaws and some setbacks but it was a good film, and by seeing the box office numbers it did not deserve to be a flop.    Shazam! Fury of the Gods has everything that a Harry Potter film has and more. The story is very different and unique, to me pretty risky too considering the villains don't exist in the comics. There are dragons and minotaurs and cyclopses and unicorns too.    In my opinion, the predecessor to this film had a better story arc, very grounded and comforting. This story...
